Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.4 ‘For the Sun is Set to Die’ Launches 2 July with Fate/stay night Collaboration

HoYoverse has announced that Version 3.4 of Honkai: Star Rail, titled For the Sun is Set to Die, will launch on 2 July 2025. The update introduces a new story arc, character additions, and the long-awaited and long-teased special collaboration with Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works].

In this update, players will join Phainon and the Trailblazer as they continue their mission in Amphoreus and confront the mysteries surrounding the dawning Era Nova. Phainon officially becomes a playable character, offering a transformative combat style powered by the accumulation of Coreflames. In combat, he creates a powerful battlefield “Territory” after transforming, with allies temporarily leaving the field while still providing support effects.

The new version also debuts Saber and Archer, who will play a central role in the collaborative story event Sweet Dreams and the Holy Grail War, launching on 11 July. Set in Penacony, the event draws players into a tournament where participants summon Servants to engage in combat, echoing the familiar Holy Grail War structure.

Saber, a 5-star Wind-type character on the Path of Destruction, uses her Ultimate “Excalibur” to deal Wind damage to all enemies and enhance her Basic Attacks. Archer, a Quantum-type on the Path of the Hunt, is designed for sustained single-target damage and can extend his turn through repeated Skill use. Notably, Archer will be available for free to all players who log in after the event begins and will remain obtainable beyond the event period.

Several returning characters, including Firefly, Jingliu, Blade, Tribbie, Sunday, and Sparkle, will be available during time-limited banners. Additionally, Silver Wolf, Kafka, and others will receive combat enhancements that HoYoverse have been incorporating into older characters in their active games. Meanwhile. quality-of-life updates, such as the long-awaited “skip dialogue” feature, will also be made available.
