The developers of Dark Fairy Tale: Dreamland Survivors, BINGOBELL, have confirmed their participation in June’s Steam Next Fest, using the occasion to preview a significant game update, which will culminate in the game’s release on 20 June 2025. Players can expect a host of changes and improvements, including level rebalancing, talent system adjustments, the introduction of new characters, item additions, and an overhauled user interface. This update aims to deepen the gameplay experience and introduce fresh challenges, with the development team promising additional surprises closer to the event.
Dark Fairy Tale: Dreamland Survivors is a top-down, auto-shooting roguelike that can be played entirely one-handed. Set in a twisted dreamworld, players take on the role of Pinocchio as he battles corrupted fairy tale characters and collects forbidden Dream Eggs to enhance his survival and combat abilities.
A central feature of the game is the Dream Egg system, which allows for both temporary and permanent character upgrades. These eggs can be stored to trigger abilities or consumed to provide stat boosts, offering players considerable freedom in crafting their ideal playstyle. With a range of talents, core weapons, and synergy-based mechanics, the game rewards experimentation and strategic thinking.
The game also features multiple layers of challenge, including standard shallow dream levels and the more intense deep dream mode. The latter introduces bullet hell-style boss fights and an endless mode designed to push players to their limits.
Another feature is the Tarot Dream Challenge system, which introduces 22 unique challenge stages inspired by tarot cards. Each stage comes with specific rules, enemies, and mechanics, and rewards successful players with powerful temporary abilities and in-game items.
Completing these challenges also grants character shards. By collecting four shards, players can unlock one of 22 additional playable characters, each with their own abilities and traits. These characters offer expanded strategic options and enhance replayability through their unique combinations of talents and weapons.
