Reverse: 1999 Celebrates First Anniversary with Major Update and New Content

Reverse: 1999, the time-travel RPG by Bluepoch Games, is celebrating its first anniversary with the release of Version 1.9, also known as the “Vereinsamt” update. One year after its debut, the game aims to continue engaging players with fresh content, including new characters, game modes, and anniversary rewards. The game is currently down for maintenance and will go live in a few hours.

The highlight of this update is the introduction of a free 6-star character, Semmelweis, and the return of the 5-star character, Matilda. Players logging in during the anniversary period will also receive 30 free summons, with new players gaining up to 100.

Additionally, Lucy, a new 6-star character with a design inspired by Metropolis, is now available in the limited-time banner, “Thoughts in Cylinder.” Although she has the appearance of a robot, Lucy is actually an Awakened arcanist powered by a piston from a Watt steam engine prototype. Her scientific drive makes her a formidable addition to the game.

Further into the anniversary celebrations, starting 10 October, players will be able to summon Kakania, a psychiatrist introduced in Version 1.7, in the “Observation into the Mirrors” banner. This character’s backstory will continue in a new chapter of the main story titled “Vereinsamt”.

Art Director Guest Cat expressed excitement for the milestone, stating:

We’re so excited to see Reverse: 1999 celebrate its first anniversary – it has been quite the year. We think version 1.9 offers a fitting celebration for fans of the game, as well as serving as a great starting point for those new to the game.

The update also introduces a new rogue-like mode, “A Series of Dusks,” where players can earn the free 5-star character Lorelei alongside other rewards. Players can explore new storylines, like the tales of Semmelweis and Eagle, and take on new challenges in “Mane’s Bulletin,” which features new bosses and investigation targets. Players can also customise their characters with new garments, including the game’s first unique garment for Regulus, “Take Off! To the Future.” Additional outfits are available for Jessica, Voyager, and Sonetto, among others.

To mark the occasion, Reverse: 1999 is hosting an offline exhibition titled “To the Past Times” in Los Angeles on 26-27 October. The exhibition will feature artwork, trailers, and more, offering fans a chance to immerse themselves in the game’s universe. The anniversary festivities also include collaborations with brands such as Discovery and Signature KOI, offering limited-edition merchandise and exclusive in-game rewards. These events will take place between 26 October and 10 November across select stores in Singapore.
