The Age of Empires team has announced a special livestream event scheduled for 24 February, set to deliver a series of updates and previews for the franchise and its many titles – both in the works and currently sitting in the game libraries of fans. The event, dubbed New Year, New Age, is poised to offer fans a first glimpse of Age of Empires Mobile, a sneak peek at the eagerly awaited Age of Mythology: Retold, and further updates that are expected to shape the future of the Age of Empires series in 2024.
In terms of updates, for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, the team will unveil a brand-new campaign-focused expansion, alongside an extended look at exclusive gameplay footage. Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition fans can look forward to the announcement of new downloadable content (DLC) that will introduce new civilizations and more. Off the back of its The Sultans Ascend expansion, Age of Empires IV is set to receive updates on an upcoming season and a new in-game reward, continuing the game’s momentum.
The event will also feature a significant focus on Age of Empires Mobile, with TiMi Studio Group, the developer behind the mobile adaptation, offering a first look at gameplay and a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their studio. Age of Mythology: Retold will also receive special attention, with the development team providing insights into how they are reimagining the game for a modern audience. The reveal will include a presentation of mythological creatures.
The event will be hosted by Youtuber and Age of Empires enthusiast Welyn, and shall commence at 4 AM AEDT / 6 AM NZDT on a range of channels including:
