Konami Bringing Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S

While series director Hideo Kojima may no longer be attached to the Metal Gear series, this doesn’t mean that re-releases and remakes on new gen platforms is out of the question. During this morning’s PlayStation Showcase, Konami was in attendance to reveal that a remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, under its new name Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is in active development for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The original game offered players an origin story of sorts, centred around the iconic Big Boss during Operation Snake Eater. The remake will star the original voice characters, and seeks to provide players new and former alike a “rich storyline and expansive features of combat survival in harsh environments evolved with unprecedented graphics and immersive sound.

In the lead-up to the remake’s launch, fans can revisit the initial three games in the Metal Gear Solid series through the METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION Vol. 1. This collection offers players a chance to infiltrate various enemy strongholds worldwide, complete missions with stealth, and experience the captivating cinematic narrative that has been a hallmark of the Metal Gear franchise.

Volume 1 contains three chapters in the series, including the HD Collection version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater’s original PlayStation 2 release. The other chapters are Metal Gear Solid itself, and the HD Collection version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

In making this announcement, the development team also shared the below statement:

We thank you and sincerely appreciate your continuous support.

Currently, the development team are working together to create an environment where fans can experience and enjoy the METAL GEAR series on the latest platforms.

We are remaking Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, one of the most beloved instalments of the METAL GEAR series, revealing the origin story of Snake, as METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER. We are working hard for METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER to be a faithful recreation of the original story and game design, while evolving the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience.

Simultaneously, we will deliver the METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION series, the most complete compilation that celebrates the 35th anniversary of the series. The METAL GEAR SOLID: MASTER COLLECTION allows fans to play the games as they were, as first released on the latest platforms.

We hope you will enjoy the METAL GEAR series on the latest platforms.

Expect to hear more about these releases in the coming months.
