Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Next Instalment in Franchise to Launch October 2023

After spending the last couple of years in the era of the Vikings, Ubisoft are only a few months from moving to the next destination on offer by the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The publisher and developer this morning confirmed during the PlayStation Showcase that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be offered worldwide on 12 October 2023.

Ubisoft Bordeaux, the studio behind the Wrath of the Druids expansion for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, has taken the lead in developing Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The game sets out to pay homage to the series long history, and offering a tribute to the original Assassin’s Creed first released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It invites players to immerse themselves in ninth-century Baghdad at the height of its Golden Age. The game aims to provide a condensed, narrative-driven action-adventure experience, bringing a fresh take on the parkour, stealth, and assassination gameplay elements that players have seen time and time again over the past fifteen years.

The game’s plot places players in a pivotal moment in history, assuming the role of Basim Ibn Is’haq, a young thief with a mysterious past who joins the Hidden Ones in Alamut seeking answers. Two talented actors, Lee Madjoub and Eyad Nassar, voice Basim, with Nassar handling the Arabic version. Additionally, Shohreh Aghdashloo joins the cast, voicing Roshan, Basim’s mentor in the Hidden ones.

The freshly revealed trailer introduces players to Basim, a new character guided by the Hidden Ones, using his tools and skills to eliminate targets stealthily. Basim, touted as one of the most agile and resourceful Assassins in the franchise’s history, showcases unique gameplay elements that emphasize stealth and deadly assassination techniques. Notably, the trailer highlights the new ability “Assassin’s Focus,” allowing Basim to mark and assassinate several enemies in a row. Moreover, the footage offers a glimpse into the vibrant city of Baghdad, which, with its dense and vertical structure, offering opportunities for players to exploit Basim’s parkour abilities.
