Next Month, Enter the Deadly Time Loop of Housemarque’s Returnal on PC

Following a couple of years of PlayStation console exclusivity, Sony Interactive Entertainment and their Housemarque studio have confirmed that their third-person roguelike game Returnal will be arriving on the PC starting 15 February 2023. Distribution will be digital-exclusive via both Steam and Epic Games Store storefronts at a price of $94.95 AUD or local equivalent.

As with many PC ports, you can expect to see some PC-exclusive features and functionality for those with higher system specs to take advantage of, including:

  • Newly added NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR and NVIDIA NIS capabilities, allowing players to improve frame rate and enjoy increased performance
  • Support for Ultrawide at 21:9 and Super Ultrawide 32:9 resolution formats.
  • Dolby Atmos, two 3D audio solutions, or 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound.
  • While it is recommended that Returnal is played using a Dualsense controller, support for Keyboard and Mouse will also be available.

If you do own a PlayStation 5 and are a PlayStation Plus Extra subscriber, you are alternatively able to access Returnal as part of your subscription.

About Returnal

After crash-landing on this shape-shifting world, Selene must search through the barren landscape of an ancient civilization for her escape. Isolated and alone, she finds herself fighting tooth and nail for survival. Again and again, she’s defeated – forced to restart her journey every time she dies.

Through relentless roguelike gameplay, you’ll discover that just as the planet changes with every cycle, so do the items at your disposal. Every loop offers new combinations, forcing you to push your boundaries and approach combat with a different strategy each time.

Brought to life by stunning visual effects, the dark beauty of the decaying world around you is packed with explosive surprises. From high stakes, bullet hell-fuelled combat, to visceral twists and turns through stark and contrasting environments. You’ll explore, discover and fight your way through an unforgiving journey, where mystery stalks your every move.

Designed for extreme replayability, the procedural world of Returnal invites you to dust yourself off in the face of defeat and take on new, evolving challenges with every rebirth.
