Providing a different experience from the usual hack’n’slash experiences offered in the mainline Bayonetta games, Nintendo used The Game Awards 2022 to confirm that development is underway on a Nintendo Switch exclusive spin-off game, titled Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. This is a more expanded version of the teaser featured in the recently released Bayonetta 3, unlockable through purchasing the Old Picture Book at Rodin’s Shop – requiring both in-game currency and three keys to access.
In Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, players take on the role of Cereza, a young apprentice witch, and start a fateful journey into a forbidden forest to gain the power to save her mother. This spin-off is distinctly different from the mainline experience, featuring a storybook-inspired art style of its own, and unique gameplay mechanics. Controlling both Cereza and her infernal demon partner, Cheshire, players will focus on exploration, combat and puzzle solving to help Cereza go deeper into the forest.
Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon is expected to launch on 17 March 2023 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Expect to hear more information about this game in the months leading to launch. But in the interim, scroll down for some announcement screenshots.
