Point-and-Click Adventure Game Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town to Receive Physical Release in November

While the golden age of point-and-click style games is well and truly over, over the years it has experienced a sort of renaissance period, with many developers tackling the genre in ways that appeal to gamers young and older alike. One such developer is Imaginarylab, who in August 2020 first released third-person adventure game Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town digitally, first on the PC before bringing it across to other consoles. Now coming up to the end of 2022, the studio has confirmed they are pairing up with Leonardo Interactive and GS2 Games to bring the game to retail store shelves. The release will start with the Nintendo Switch version on November 2022, with plans to distribute a PlayStation 4 physical release in the near future as well – priced at $29.99 USD or local equivalent.

Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town follows the story of the titular character, 10 years after the disappearance of his father, renowned archaeologist Harry Morgan. Receiving a mysterious letter signed by his father, urging him on to Room 09 in the Bone Town inn, he is drawn in to “finish the work Harry began”. Eager at any chance to find his lost father, Willy obeys the letter’s instruction and sets off to Bone Town and the fantastical adventure that awaits him. Once he arrives, Willy must rely on his wits and track down the truth across more than 50 locations that make up the modern-pirate playgroundesque world.

The locals are only too happy – most of the time – to speak with Willy and offer help, though not always out of the goodness of their hearts. Willy must solve challenging puzzles and aid the people of Bone Town to advance the non-linear story and eventually arrive at the core of the town’s hidden secret.

Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town is pitched as being “Equal parts 18th century pirate haven and computer-driven tourist paradise, Bone Town has charm pouring from every cobbled alley and decrepit library, lovingly rendered in a cartoonish style reminiscent of classic adventure games”.

Promoted features of Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town include:

  • Non-linear gameplay: Explore without constraint, collect items, and solve brilliant puzzles.
  • Unique graphic style: A fanciful deformed world with a magical atmosphere.
  • Cinematographic cutscenes and over 50 locations to see.
  • A Pirate world with a modern twist: Pirates and computers….? Well, why not!
  • 15 NPCs to interact with: Learn about the story through several hours of interactive dialogues packed with irony and easter eggs.
  • Original soundtrack: More than 2 hours of original music.
