In March 2022, Square Enix confirmed that a new instalment in the underappreciated and (before then) apparently forgotten about Valkyrie series would be receiving a brand new instalment – titled Valkyrie Elysium. While tri-ace is no longer at the helm of this project, with development primarily spearheaded by Soleil Ltd. we can hope that it lives up to the high standards of the originals. Square Enix has today confirmed that the action-RPG will be launching natively on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 starting 29 September 2022, with a PC version to be available via Steam a couple of months later on 11 November 2022.
Furthermore to the confirmation of the Valkyrie Elysium release date, Square Enix has also confirmed that a digital-exclusive port of the PlayStation Portable instalment in the series, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, will also be available on the PlayStation Store for the PS4 and PS5 on the same date. Now, we just need for them to bring across the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS games, perhaps as ‘Classics’ titles on the newly revised PlayStation Plus.
Available digitally and physically on the PlayStation platforms, those opting to nab themselves a digital copy also have the option of picking up the Valkyrie Elysium Digital Deluxe Edition which includes:
- 72-hour early access to the full game
- In-game item “Svartaljr: Sword of the Goddess of the Underworld”
- A digital version of VALKYRIE PROFILE: LENNETH
