Developed by People Can Fly and published by Square Enix little more than a year ago, Outriders is available on most major gaming platforms and received a good enough reception upon launch – although this third-person looter shooter could stand a major update to lure players back into the game. For fans of the game and those looking to perhaps pick it up for the first time, that is just what the development team are doing, this week confirming Outriders Worldslayer, a “major update” set to go live on 30 June 2022 as both a standalone release and a paid upgrade for those who own the original game.
Outriders Worldslayer is pitched as a “brutal 1-3 player co-op looter shooter set in an original, dark sci-fi universe, where you create will your own Outrider from one of four powerful classes”. Players will start with the original campaign and progress to the new content, or, use the all-new Level 30 Boost to jump straight into the new Worldslayer content with a fully geared up Outrider and journey across the diverse and deadly planet of Enoch.
In Outriders Worldslayers, players will face off against the most deadly Altered ever encountered, Ereshkigal, in humanity’s last fight for survival. Yet beyond her, even greater horrors exist in the ancient ruins of Tarya Gratar, which Square Enix claims is the “ultimate endgame experience”. Will it accomplish that ambition? Time will tell.
Developed by People Can Fly, Outriders Worldslayer will be available on the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Google Stadia and GeForce Now from 30 June 2022 as a standalone release. Those who own the original game will be able to purchase the Worldslayer upgrade (for an unspecified price) to access the new content at a reduced rate.
