Inviting players to “relive the classic adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic 3 & Knucles, and Sonic CD”, SEGA has today confirmed they will be releasing the Sonic Origins remastered collection on 23 June 2022. This digital exclusive collection will be available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC, and will offer each title with “remastered visuals, added features, new content and modes and more”.
As highlighted by SEGA earlier today:
In Sonic Origins, players will join Sonic, Tails and Knuckles to race at lightning speeds across remastered versions of iconic levels like the Green Hill Zone and Chemical Plant Zone, for a classic supersonic experience modernised for current generation platforms. Players can switch between the Classic or Anniversary Modes to spin through loop-de-loops and score rings on a mission to save the world from the evil Dr. Eggman.
With Sonic Origins, Sonic fans new and returning can celebrate the classic Sonic games that built the legendary franchise into what it is today. With new remastered visuals, characters, game modes, game zones and more, Sonic Origins brings the best of the original Sonic titles to the modern day.
What some fans may not be so enthused about is the three different versions, inclusive of a pre-order bonus, that locks some content behind special edition paywalls. The price difference between editions is not wallet breaking, but given these are remastered games, one would not expect them to be available at an extra charge.

Given how small the price difference is and the feedback currently circulating online, one would think a single edition base game (perhaps with the pre-order incentive) would be wiser.
