Rune Factory 5 Arrives on the Nintendo Switch

New Rune Factory adventures await gamers on the Nintendo Switch, with another instalment in the long-running Japanese RPGxSimulation series – Rune Factory 5 – launching exclusively on the platform in Europe, Australia and New Zealand via Marvelous Europe, and North America through XSEED Games. This is the second instalment of the Japanese franchise to be published by the companies, and complements their releases in the Story of Seasons franchise.

Rune Factory 5 revolves around mysterious events taking place in the sleepy border town of Rigbarth, which are affecting the nearby runes which govern the balance between humanity and nature. As the newest ranger for the peacekeeping organization SEED, protect the frontier town by defeating rowdy monsters or team up with an ally for link attacks. When not on a mission, work with the people of Rigbarth to help the town flourish through farming, festivals, and friendships. If you are familiar with the franchise, you know what to expect already. For those who are not, go in expecting a very relaxed experience that combines some of the elements of the Story of Seasons franchise with RPG mechanics.

Fans of Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny and Rune Factory 4 Special may see some familiar faces and costumes from both games make an appearance. All players will receive outfits based on characters Aden and Sonja from Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny automatically in their game. Additionally, players with Rune Factory 4 Special save data on their Nintendo Switch will unlock additional DLC outfits and see some familiar faces from Rune Factory 4 Special appear in their town!
