Chrono Cross to Be Remastered, Released on PS4, Switch, Xbox One and PC in April

To be available digitally on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Windows PC starting 7 April 2022, Square Enix has officially confirmed that a remastered version of Square’s late-90s RPG Chrono Cross is on its way. Titled Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, this will be the first time that the iconic RPG will be made available in PAL regions.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition will see players embark on an adventure which transcends time and space, featuring refined illustrations from original character designer, Nobuteru Yuuki, remastered music from acclaimed composer, Yasunori Mitsuda, and a variety of additional features.

Some of the new features being included in the collection includes:

  • 3D models converted to HD*
  • Brand new artwork and character redesign by Nobuteru Yuuki*
  • Background filter feature*
  • Switch between imitation pixel font and HD font*
  • Players can choose between playing with original or updated graphics. Those with (*) above are part of this, but can be only be switched together as part of one option.
  • Refined background music by Yasunori Mitsuda
  • Switch enemy encounters on or off
  • Battle enhancement features
  • Auto-battle function
  • French, Italian, German and Spanish localization now added
  • The inclusion of Radical Dreamers, never before released in the West.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition will see players fill the shoes of protagonist Serge, who stumbles into another world and learns of the connection between his existence and the future of his planet. During his journey he will be able to recruit more than 40 party members, each with their own element affinity and unique skills. Furthermore, for the first time in the west, “RADICAL DREAMERS  – Le Trésor Interdit -“, a text-based adventure video game released for Satellaview in 1996, which forms the bedrock of the story, is also included in this edition.
