Learn About Star Citizen’s New Alien Cargo Ship – The Gatac Railen in New Q&A

During the recently held Alien Week in ambitious sci-fi game Star Citizen, developer Cloud Imperium Games opened pledge sales for the Gatac Railen. Unlike virtually every other alien ship which has been flyable in Star Citizen to date, the Gatac Railen comes from a brand new ship manufacturer, and takes on the role of a cargo/transport ship rather than a combat-oriented craft.

Designed to be crewed by both Humans and Xi’an alike, the Gatac Railen offers spacious dimensions of 53m x 52m x 67m, support for 4 crew members including living quarters suitable to humans and Xi’an alike, and a cargo capacity of 320 SCU.

Did you see the ship, “uhm’ing” and “aah’ing” about whether you would or would not pledge towards it, and had a burning question you wanted to know about the ship? Cloud Imperium Games have curated a handful of the community’s questions about the Gatac Railen and pitched them to the development team.

Answering questions such as “Will it be possible to use the Railen’s cargo pods at any cargo station?” and “Could you tell us more about this ship’s speed and maneuvering capabilities? As the Xi’an are known for their engines, will the Railen be fast and maneuverable for its size?”, you can read the full Q&A by clicking HERE.

In development by Cloud Imperium Games and their studios across North America and Europe, Star Citizen is being helmed by Wing Commander (1990s) creator Chris Roberts. The game has currently been in a long-term alpha phase with no confirmed release date. Despite this, the studio has raised more than $350 million USD through on-going crowdfunding. Please keep in mind should you decide to purchase towards Star Citizen, that this is an incomplete project and that you are pledging towards an extended crowdfunding campaign with no 100% guarantee of a finished product.
