Experimental Aircrafts Take to the Skies Now In Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown DLC

Since releasing on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC in January 2019, Bandai Namco Studios has continued post-launch development for Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown well past the one year mark. The latest release from that development came this week, with the launch of the ‘Experimental Aircraft’ downloadable content.

As its name implies, this DLC is not about bringing old classics or popular planes to the game. Instead, it introduces three types of real experimental aircrafts from recent decades, which Bandai Namco claim have been “developed to improve performance and attack capabilities”. These include:

  • F-15 S/MTD (The Boeing Company)
  • F-16XL (Lockheed Martin Corporation)
  • FB-22 Strike Raptor (Lockheed Martin Corporation)

In addition to the crafts, this update introduces skins and emblems of enemy pilots and rival units from past games in the series into Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.

Enemy/rival unit aircraft skins introduced in the ‘Experimental Aircraft’ DLC include:  CFA-44 Butterfly Master Skin, A-10A Varcolac Skin, MiG-21bis Huckebein Skin, YF-23 Z.O.E.Skin, MiG-29 RedMoon Skin, Su-35S Markov Skin, Su-37 Markov Skin, Su-33 Strigon Skin, Su-47 Grabacr Skin, Su-37 Ofnir Skin.
