Judgment Launches on Newest Generation of Consoles

SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku’s spin-off game Judgment first released exclusively on the PlayStation 4 in 2019, proving itself to be a competent and mostly memorable action-adventure game with much of the charm that kept the Yakuza franchise running for so many years. But with new consoles now out on the market and a slight favouring towards Xbox consoles for the brand, both companies have this week released Judgment onto the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

This version of Judgment has been remastered for the next-generation consoles, especially around its new hardware allowing for refined visuals, 60 frames per second gameplay and improved load times. Although there will be no new content included in the game, it will feature all available add-on content on-disc, including drone components, healing items, Yagami Detective Agency decorations and more.

Could there be more Judgment to come? That is the hot question on everyone’s mind, with Studio Ryu Ga Gotoku confirming a digital event will take place on 7 May 2021. To be available on a dedicated website in English, French, Italian, Spanish, German and Japanese – SEGA has stated that “players can expect to learn about Judgment updates”.

Unfortunately, Judgment does not offer a free upgrade route from the PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5.

About Judgment

Judgment puts players in the shoes of Takayuki Yagami–disgraced attorney turned rugged private detective–as he uncovers the mystery behind a grisly series of murders. Joined by his partner, ex-yakuza member Masaharu Kaito, Yagami must claw his way through Kamurocho’s criminal underground to unravel the truth – as painful as it may be.

Take down adversary in high-octane encounters with stylish martial arts forms, crack the case, and lend your expertise to locals in need around the city. Judgment ups the ante with emphasis on investigative gameplay, tracking suspects and discovering clues as Yagami walks the thin line of justice in a world of corruption. Packed with a dramatic story, filmic combat and a cast of intense characters, Judgment will keep all aspiring private detectives on their toes.
