Four New Characters Confirmed for Samurai Warriors 5

For the first time in a number of years, Koei Tecmo and developer Omega Force will be taking gamers back to the Sengoku Period of Japan to face off against hundreds if not thousands of enemy soldiers at once in Samurai Warriors 5. Due for release on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, this tactical hack-n-slash action game will launch 27 July 2021, and in addition to a number of new features fitting the next mainline game in the franchise, shall include brand new characters.

In recent days, Koei Tecmo has confirmed four new characters will be playable in Samurai Warriors 5, bringing its playable combatant count up to 27. These include kusarigama expert and head of the Iga Ninjas, Sandayū Momochi; Ninja Sword master Hattori Hanzō; Magoichi Saika, a professional mercenary with no interest in the concept of good and evil; and the great samurai Yasuke, who serves as Nobunaga’s retainer.

In addition to the four new characters, adult versions of both “The Demon King” Nobunaga Oda and the Oda family’s retainer, Mitsuhide Akechi will be playable. Nobunaga’s proficient sword techniques and Mitsuhide’s fearsome combination attacks using both matchlock firearm and blade may bring a wave of fear across the opposition forces… provided you handle them well enough.
