Samurai Warriors 5 in Active Development For PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One

Omega Force has been a very active development studio over the last few years, focusing on delivering inventive 1 vs 1000 hack’n’slash experiences in a range of IPs including Persona 5, Dragon Quest and The Legend of Zelda. With the last Samurai Warriors game released back in 2014, it is about time for gamers to return to Sengoku period Japan and begin a new journey to unite the country.

Koei Tecmo has confirmed that Samurai Warriors 5 is actively in development, aiming for a release around end-2021 to early-2022. The game is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC. Although no native PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X version is planned, it will be supported by each consoles backwards compatibility functionality.

According to Koei Tecmo…

SAMURAI WARRIORS 5 marks a fresh, re-imagining of the franchise, including an all-new storyline, as well as revamped character designs and a stylish new visual presentation. A new beginning to the SAMURAI WARRIORS experience, the title launches gamers into the Sengoku period, shining the in-game spotlight on characters Nobunaga Oda and Mitsuhide Akechi.

More information about Samurai Warriors 5 is scheduled to be unveiled at a livestream on 25 February 2021.
