With a new expansion pack for Final Fantasy XIV having launched every two years, 2021 is expected to be the year where the online game’s next major upgrade and overhaul is due to go live. Due to COVID-19 hampering development last year, there is still quite a bit of content expected from Shadowbringers yet. Still, many expect to see the next chapter of FFXIV’s main story, new character classes, an increase in the level cap and more go live.
On 5 February 2021 at 5.30 pm PST (Saturday 6 February 2021 at 12.30 pm AEST) across multiple streaming platforms, developer Square Enix will host the Final Fantasy XIV Online Announcement Showcase. Unlike the Letter from the Producer Live streams which are more regular but only have translated slides, this will have a live interpretation of all announcements made. This is an honour typically saved for significant announcements such as new expansion packs.
You will be able to watch this stream via Youtube, Niconico and Twitch. If you cannot watch the stream live, be sure to tune in to The Otaku’s Study afterwards for a recap all announcements made.
