Awaiting for new adventures in Cloud Imperium Games’ ambitious space-simulator game Star Citizen? Your wait is over, with the latest quarterly Alpha update going live for all project backers. While some content planned for this update will be rolled out in the coming weeks and months as part of sub-patches, a wealth of new front-end and back-end content is now accessible for players.
The new ships available to players make up Origin Jumpworks’ trio of 100-series crafts, the ORIGIN 100i Touring, the ORIGIN 125a Light Fighter and ORIGIN 135c Light Freight. These are, to some degree, a new option of starter crafts – so have relatively small interiors but are decent jack-of-all-trades crafts. The eagerly-anticipated Mercury Star Runner remains in development, and will be released soon.
Complemented by a wealth of issue fixes and general improvements, Star Citizen Alpha 1.11 also introduces new FPS weapons (the Behring BR2 Ballistic Shotgun and Behring GP-33 Grenade Launcher), core tech updates in the form of ground cover buoyancy, improved throw and player inventory systems and improvements to planet surfaces. A full patch notes can be read HERE.
In development by Cloud Imperium Games and their studios across North America and Europe, Star Citizen is being helmed by Wing Commander (1990s) creator Chris Roberts. The game has currently been in a long-term alpha phase with no confirmed release date. Despite this, the studio has raised more than $265 million USD through on-going crowdfunding. Please keep in mind should you decide to purchase towards Star Citizen, that this is an incomplete project and that you are pledging towards an extended crowdfunding campaign with no 100% guarantee of a finished product.
