Pikmin Invade the Nintendo Switch in Pikmin 3 Deluxe

First released for the Nintendo Gamecube back in 2001, the Pikmin franchise is one of those once-in-a-console generation games, bringing some enticing if not a little frustrating real-time strategy gameplay to platforms which don’t usually receive games in the genre. Later succeeded by Pikmin 2 (2004), Pikmin 3 (2013) and Hey! Pikmin (2017), the series may be more of a niche among Nintendo’s IPs, but it still has its fanbase.

Offering their most recent mainline game to new audiences who may not have played it originally on the Wii U, Nintendo has this week released Pikmin 3 Deluxe digitally and physically on the Nintendo Switch. In this chapter, players will take control of three explorers, who alongside of an array of colourful Pikmin embark on an adventure to save their world.

Pikmin 3 features a number of improvements from the game’s original release, including two-player co-op, brand new prologue and epilogue missions and an unlockable “Ultra Spicy” difficulty setting for those who think of themselves as Pikmin-Experts. And of course, all downloadable content (DLC) that was released for the Wii U version is included in this deluxe collection at no additional cost.

Not sure if Pikmin 3 Deluxe is the game for you but are curious? A free demo can be downloaded via the Nintendo eShop, giving a taste of the game’s story and mission modes.
