A sometimes underappreciated RPG gem of the Nintendo Gamecube’s small library, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is due to receive new life with a newer generation of gamers in only a couple of days time. Developed for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android platforms with cross-compatibility support, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition will be available digitally from 27 August 2020.
This will not be a straight port of the original, with overhauls of both its functionalities and content to make its multiplayer more accessible and provide a memorable experience whether it is your first or fifth time travelling with the caravan of intrepid adventurers.
Want to know what happened behind the scenes in bringing this classic forward into the current generation of consoles? Square Enix has today published their ‘Inside Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles featurette’, which see’s producer Akitoshi Kawazu and Art Director Toshiyuki Itahana take you through the development process, with insight and anecdotes a plenty.
Some of the enhancements in Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition include online multiplayer support with cross-play functionality, updated graphics, a newly composed soundtrack, additional high-difficulty dungeons and more. It will launch simultaneously on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Android (via Google Play) and iOS (via App Store) platforms from Thursday.
