Yakuza 6: The Song of Life to Receive Western Release in March 2018

After spending the last few games focused on the past of series lead Kazuma Kiryu, gamers will soon be exploring further into his future, with Sega confirming a March 20 2018 release date for Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. Available exclusively for the PlayStation 4, this instalment will be priced at $59.99 USD / $79.99 CAN in North America, £49.99 in the United Kingdom, €59.99 in the rest of Europe, and A$89.99 in Australia.

Described as the “the final chapter” of Kazuma Kiryu’s story, Yakuza 6 is set to see Kiryu find out exactly how much people are willing to sacrifice for family – be those ties through blood or bond – when he investigates a series of shadoy events that involves the ones he holds closest to his heart. He’ll journey to familiar grounds in Kamurocho and the new setting of Onomichi, in order to find the answers he seeks. Yakuza 6 is set to be powered by a “brand-new Dragon Engine”, and seeks to be the “ultimate iteration of Yakuza’s blend of gritty crime story, hyper-explosive combat, and all the vices and distractions those locales have to offer”.

SEGA have confirmed that they will be offering a special “After Hours Premium Edition” for Yakuza 6, which includes:

  • Hardcover Art Book (Specifications to be confirmed).
  • 2x 280ml Bar Glasses featuring the design of Kiryu’s dragon tattoo.
  • 2x Ice Stones featuring the artwork of heat actions. One features the flame heat action icon, while the other bears the Japanese “kiwami” heat icon.
  • 2x Coasters featuring the Tojo Clan brand.
  • An outer box to house all these in.

This edition will be priced at $89.99/CA$119.99/£79.99/€89.99/A$129.99, and given the contents, is in my opinion about the right price increase compared to the standard edition for whats on offer. Whether whats on offer is worth the extra money however is up to your perspective.
