Although it is becoming growingly unlikely we will ever get to play Dragon Quest X outside of Japan, Square Enix have confirmed their plans to offer the eleventh numbered game in the series, Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, in 2018.

This instalment in the franchise will put players in the shoes of a new hero, who must solve the mystery of his fate with the aid of a “charming cast” of supporting characters. According to Square Enix, the game will “offer a world of adventure, exploration and instances of heroism— all brought to life by the character art of famed manga artist Akira Toriyama and the memorable music of composer Koichi Sugiyama”.

Square Enix plan to share more information about Dragon Quest XI later this year.
