Eight PlayStation 2 Games to Launch on the PlayStation 4 w/ Enhanced Features

-

In a recent announcement on the official PlayStation Blog, Shuhei Yoshida announced that eight “fan-favourite” PlayStation 2 games are set for release on the PlayStation 4. While there were a number of “PlayStation 2 Classics” released on the PlayStation 3, similar titles on the PlayStation 4 have generally seen developers develop and fully publish HD ports (Such as Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster).

The eight “fan favourites” to be available on the PlayStation 4 include Dark Cloud (SCE Worldwide Studios), Grand Theft Auto 3 (Rockstar Games), Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (Rockstar Games), Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (Rockstar Games), Rogue Galaxy (SCE Worldwide Studios), The Mark of Kri (SCE Worldwide Studios), War of the Monsters (SCE Worldwide Studios) and Twisted Metal: Black (SCE Worldwide Studios).

These are not just simple ports however, and do come with a number of features. First off, these titles have been up-rendered in 1080p and include features such as Remote Play, Activity Feeds and Second Screen support for game manuals with PlayStation Vita or PlayStation App. These titles will also come with trophy support, hopefully with enough challenge on offer to encourage players to enjoy every part of these classic games for a second time.

At the moment it seems like only SCE Worldwide and Rockstar Games titles are being made available, but here’s hoping more are available in the very near future. Personally, I would love to dive into CyberConnect2 / Bandai Namco’s .hack// franchise one more time!
