NIS America Provide Additional Information on Edits / Censorship Made to ‘Criminal Girls: Invite Only’

-

While some may still be left disappointed that the game had to be edited / censored at all, Nippon Ichi Software America have had to work with the original development team for Criminal Girls: Invite Only to edit some minor aspects of the game, in order to make it more suitable for a wider Western market (or in the case of Australia where Atelier Rorona and Totori Plus are considered to risky for those under the age of 18… possibly to even be sold in certain regions).

Following NIS America announcing Criminal Girls: Invite Only last weekend at Anime Expo 2014, I sought comment from the company about exactly what has been edited in the game for its western release. Having just received their response, I am honestly not finding anything much to be concerned about, and certainly nothing near as significant as Mugen Souls and Mugen Souls Z which completely removed a bathing mini-game.

The edits to Criminal Girls: Invite Only will not infringe upon any core gameplay mechanic, meaning that the punishment system which the game has been known for will remain intact, despite only being referenced and not shown during the recent announcement trailer. The edits will pertain to the amount of fog that covers some scenes, in addition to removing some or all of the Japanese audio during those scenes.

Without these edits, a representative from the company claims that they would not have been able to bring the game over at all.

Criminal Girls: Invite Only is set for release on the PlayStation Vita in both North America and PAL regions later this year. More information and screenshots on the game can be found on The Otaku’s Study via both Criminal Girls: Invite Only and Criminal Girls: Invitation tags.
