Is This The Most Niche Online Game Ever Created? “Ever, Jane: The Virtual World of Jane Austen”

-

The niche field of anime and gaming is not something that is new on The Otaku’s Study, and in an ever expanding market it is often the quirky or unique titles that garner a great deal of attention… and at least for this year none seem to be more niche than “Ever, Jane: The Virtual World of Jane Austen“. This title is currently in development by 3 Turn Productions, a new studio that has been formed with a goal to create “historically accurate worlds based on classic literature”.

What is most surprising is that this is an online game. Set in a virtual world during the Regency Period in England, Ever, Jane is supposed to be about playing the actual character in the game and building stories. Its quests are derrived from player actions and stories, and the intent is not to destroy or aid others through swords or magic but through gossip. But hey, why take their word for it when they have already launched a demo?

This project is currently going through Kickstarter with a pledge goal of $100,000. With 29 days still remaining they have reached $20,110 in funding already and offer a number of stretch goals and pledge goals up to $10,000 (With someone already pledging towards goal). You can check out this campaign HERE. The developers have gone out there to try something considerably different, and I wish them all the best in their campaign.
