Over the last month The Otaku’s Study has been following a campaign by the team at Ghostlight to bring Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 into PAL regions, following releases in both Japan and North America.
Despite releasing Devil Survivor Overclocked on the Nintendo 3DS without any such requirements, this release was only viable if the company amassed 1,800 pre-orders by the end of August 30, 2013. While it went off to a reasonably satisfactory start albeit a few site issues, I must admit I was skeptical about them actually achieving their target. Fortunately while it seems like the numbers were close, they managed to pull across the line and a physical release should start being sent out via their online store in the coming weeks.
A release date has yet to be confirmed but they aim at providing one as soon as they complete the Gold Edition manual and put the game into manufacture. Pre-orders are still available to be made via the official Ghostlight website however your name will not be considered for inclusion in the games manual.
Via the company’s official blog, Ross Brierley had this to say:
A massive (and I do mean MASSIVE) thank you to everyone who ordered the game or posted about it and helped us spread the word. I knew we could count on you!
I think you’re all aware by now, but we genuinely couldn’t have done this without your incredible support – you have all truly been the difference in making sure that Devil Survivor 2 receives its well deserved European release.
