While there stands the possibility that 950,000+ of these applications have yet to be invited into the beta test, Square Enix have today confirmed that over a million gamers have signed up to be a part of their beta testing process for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn – following what I would consider a rather active advertising campaign through a number of channels. Phase 3 closed beta testing is currently ongoing for both the Windows PC and Playstation 3 platforms in the lead-up to its 27th August 2013 release date.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a major update to the original 2010 online game Final Fantasy XIV. In-fact, it has been in development in order to bring it up to the standard of online games today after a very lackluster reception from media and the gaming population alike. They are so confident in this release they are also bringing it to both the Playstation 3 and 4 platforms.
