The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition – Due for Release on the XBox360 This April

-

Namco Bandai Partners described this brand new CG Opening Sequence as  “simply stunning, and not one that should be missed!”. While one could write that off as promotional blurbs… I actually agree with them that this four minute sequence is impressive.

This is one game I have yet to personally check out, however fans of the series may be rejoicing as CD Projekt RED today confirmed the street date for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition. At a press conference today in Warsaw, Poland, they announced that two different retail versions of the XBox360 adaptation of its award winning PC RPG The Witcher 2 will hit store shelves on the 17th April 2012 – including in Australia and New Zealand.

Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt RED Studio had this to say about this announcement:

The Xbox 360 version is a complete adaptation of the game to the new platform, we’ve rewritten the code so it feels native to the console. This latest version of The Witcher 2 has been expanded in many ways, and some experts believe it to be one of the best-looking games ever to make it to consoles.

Gameplay has been extended through the addition of new quests and locations, allowing the plot to become even more complex with the introduction of major new NPCs who intensify the struggle for power in the Northern Kingdoms.

Badowski continued:

PC users who already own the game will be happy to learn that they will be able to download all the added content free of charge. At the same time, the Xbox 360 version will incorporate all DLCs and upgrades made available thus far for the game’s original platform (including the ‘Arena’ arcade mode and Tutorial that were part of the latest and richest PC version).

Other enhancements include the game’s user interface, which has been revamped to deliver better control on the Xbox 360, while new targeting, camera and control systems will give players full control of the Witcher during the game’s dynamic and tactically rich combat sequences.

This game will be published in Australia and New Zealand by Namco Bandai Partners and seemingly a variety of other publishers depending on where in the world you live. All should have the exact same or around the same release date.
