Cuteness vs Brawn - Street Fighter / Hello Kitty Collaboration Project Announced 1

Image Source: Art work posted on the Hello Kitty to Issho! website, a collaboration between Sanrio (Responsible for Hello Kitty) and a number of other prominent Japanese design groups.

Hello Kitty has been a staple reference to everyone when they think of Japan. First introduced to Japan in 1974, Hello Kitty has appeared in almost every format you could think of: Games, Anime Series, Manga, accessories, on the side of planes and a number of other consumer products. Whilst it is broad, the Hello Kitty series to me at least, has always been a part of the childrens market in terms of media products at least.

Street Fighter on the other hand needs no real introduction. Initially being released in 1987, there have been countless numbers of games in the series, both in the arcades and on consoles. Included with the vast number of games, have been several cross overs with other game series, namely Tekken and Marvel series.

So what do you get when you cross the adorable Hello Kitty series with a game such as Street Fighter? Well you get Street Fighter vs Hello Kitty…. duh! Whilst I can find no reference to any mention of a game series, there has at the very least been mention of merchandise being available starting Fall next year [Thanks to KOTAKU for this information]. Honestly, I personally hope we do end up getting a game based off this franchise and not just merchandise, as it would be fun using Hello Kitty characters to defeat the more fighting-aligned characters of the Street Fighter series.

I am very curious to see what both Sanrio and Capcom manage to produce from this concept.
