Hamilton the Musical Australia Q&A With Lin-Manuel Miranda to Be Broadcast on ABC TV + ABC iView

Over the weekend, a number of randomly selected #Hamilfans had the opportunity to join creative Lin-Manuel Miranda and ABC journalist Leigh Sales for a special Q&A in the QPAC Lyric Theatre. This was to mark Miranda’s first time watching the Australian production of Hamilton the Musical in-person, having been remotely working on the project alongside local creatives and producer Michael Cassel Group since it was first taking shape years ago.

I have been hearing numbers of tens of thousands of applicant fans potentially missing out on this opportunity, not to mention those who for whatever reason were not able to place themselves in Brisbane last weekend. So… what to do? The solution I was expecting since Leigh Sales was announced as host has come to fruition – a recorded version of the Q&A will be broadcast on ABC TV and its digital ABC iView platform.

The interview will broadcast exclusively on ABC TV and ABC iview on Saturday, March 18 at 6pm, and will be repeated the following Tuesday, 21 March on ABC TV at 10pm. While these are the only two planned broadcast times, it isn’t entirely clear how long it will be available to stream via ABC iView.

According to Australian producer Michael Cassel Group, “Miranda was honest and candid with Sales about the challenges he faced bringing HAMILTON to the stage, sharing secrets about the show with fans, while paying tribute to the depth of talent in the Australian company”. If that sounds like tantalising insight you should hear about, be sure to tune in from the weekend after next.

Tickets to see the final Australian season of Hamilton the Musical at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) before it heads to New Zealand are still on sale, purchasable online or by calling their box office team on 136 246. All tickets are now on-sale, and the production must conclude 23 April 2023.
