Well deserving of its accolades and praises, including in my review of the production last month, SIX the Musical’s Australian tour has managed to reach another milestone at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) during its ongoing Brisbane season.
While not necessarily surprising given its month-and-a-half long run at the venue, much longer than most if not all other productions, it was confirmed that SIX the Musical is officially the “highest selling show ever to play at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) Playhouse”.
In response to hitting this milestone, QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas issued the following statement:
SIX the Musical’s Australian producer, Louise Withers, also shared this statement celebrating this accomplishment:
While originally slated to take to the stage much earlier, SIX the Musical’s Australian tour was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and saw Brisbane as the grand finale of the production’s revised Australian tour. It has previously entertained audiences in Canberra, Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth, and not once but twice in Sydney – with it receiving an encore season. It also holds a similar accolade at the Sydney Opera House, where its fifteen-week run became the longest-running show ever at the venue.
