Here We Go Again! Mamma Mia the Musical Returning For Australian Tour This Year

Only a few years after last touring the production, Australian producers Michael Coppel, Louise Withers and Linda Bewick are once again taking audiences to a Greek Island paradise where a wedding reception, lost-loves and the music of ABBA await in Mamma Mia! The Musical. The tour is set to commence at the Sydney Lyric Theatre in May 2023, followed by the QPAC Lyric Theatre in August 2023 and Melbourne’s Princess Theatre in October 2023.

This new 2023 production is being pitched as a “re-staging” of the 2017 production, which features the work of an all-Australian creative team including director Gary Young, Choreographer Tom Hodgson, Musical Supervisor Stephen Amos, Set Designer Linda Bewick, Costume Designer Suzy Strout, Lighting Designer Gavan Swift and Sound Design by Michael Waters.

There is no need to order tickets without knowing whom will be portraying which character, with a full cast list for the Australian tour already confirmed, including:

For those who have never watched Mamma Mia! The Musical before, it is the musical which eventually spawned the feature length film Mamma Mia! starring Meryl Streep. With the story intertwined by a range of relevant ABBA songs, it fells the story of a young woman, her mother, and their extended friends in the days leading up to the former’s wedding. But on the eve of her wedding, the daughters quest to discover the identify of her father brings three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago.

Tickets for the Sydney season are now on-sale, with general public sales for Brisbane and Melbourne seasons to go on-sale soon. In the case of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), sales will go live starting 9am on Thursday 9 March 2023 via their official website or by calling the QTIX Box Office team on 136 246. More information on how to book for each city can be found on the show’s official website.

MAMMA MIA! is the perfect medicine for our times! The musical is a proven hit and an uplifting, fun-filled, heartfelt night at the theatre where audiences are transported to another time and place. We are thrilled with this incredibly talented cast and know they will bring the story and joy to life on stage in the most amazing way. The timeless music of ABBA never fails to bring joy to audiences across the world, so we are excited to be bringing the fun of MAMMA MIA! back to Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne this year
