Following seasons on London’s West End, Broadway and Toronto, it has been confirmed that the musical Girl from North Country will be one of the star productions featured during Brisbane Festival 2022. The musical was written by Conor McPherson, features music and lyrics by acclaimed musician Bob Dylan, and will feature 4-time Gold Logie winner Lisa McCune in the leading role of Elizabeth Laine.

Girl From North Country revolves around American life in 1934, specifically around a community living on a knife-edge in the local guesthouse. The production will feature Lisa McCune (The King And I, South Pacific), Terence Crawford (Escape from Pretoria, 1984), Helen Dallimore (Wicked [London], Legally Blonde) Helpmann Award winners, Peter CarrollGreg Stone and Christina O’Neill, dual AFI winner Peter KowitzElijah Williams (Triple X, Black Jesus), Grant Piro (host of ABC TV’s Couch Potato, Hello, Dolly!), Blake Erickson (The Dismissal, Shrek, Mamma Mia!), Elizabeth Hay (Emil and the Detectives, Hibernation) and James Smith (Jasper Jones, Euphoria) and Chemon Theys (Faust, Deadly Women). Samantha Morley, Tony Black, Liam Wigney, Tony Cogin and Laurence Coy feature in the impressive ensemble, with a band featuring Mark Harris and Cameron Henderson performing live on stage under Musical Director Andrew Ross.

Girl From North Country features twenty of Bob Dylan’s songs, including but by no means limited to: Hurricane, I Want You, Slow Train Coming, Forever Young and Like A Rolling Stone. The production also boasts one of the longest production credits I have frankly seen in all my time in the performing arts industry:
