-

Building upon the Queensland Performing Arts Centre’s (QPAC) Summer line-up, albeit being aimed at a more mature audiences than shows in the family-oriented SummerSet Program, it has been confirmed that Heathers the Musical will be making its Brisbane debut in the Playhouse theatre from January 9th to 17th 2016. Based on the 1988 film Heathers which starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater, this is a stage adaptation written by Kevin Murphy (Reefer Madness, Desperate Housewives) and Laurence O’Keefe (Bat Boy, Legally Blonde).

This production is being directed by Trevor Ashley, with Cameron Mitchell as the choreographer and Bev Kennedy as musical director. It stars Jaz Flowers as Veronica, Stephen Madsen as J.D., Kirby Burgess as Heather Chandler, Erin Clare as Heather McNamara, Libby Asciak as Heather Duke, Vincent Hooper as Ram Sweeney, Jakob Ambrose as Kurt Kelly and Lauren McKenna as Martha / Miss Fleming. Ensemble cast members include Michelle Barr (Who also serves as Dance Captain), Rebecca Hetherington, Stephen McDowell and Leigh Sleightholme. This production is being presented by QPAC in association with Showwork Productions.

Heathers the Musical takes place in Westerberg High, which is ruled by a shoulder-padded, scrunchie-wearing threesome: Heather, Heather and Heather, the hottest and cruellest girls at school. But misfit Veronica Sawyer rejects their regime and falls in love with the dangerously sexy new kid J.D.. When Heather Chandler  kicks her out of the group, Veronica decides to put the Heathers in their place – six feet under

Tickets for Heathers the Musical are set to go on sale starting October 23rd via the QPAC website and box office. While exact session dates/times are not yet known, tickets will set you back $79.90 to $89.90 per seat.
