Inaugural Glitter Festival to Begin at The Arts Centre Gold Coast Next Week

-

glitter-update

Starting Monday 28 September (Next Week!), The Arts Centre Gold Coast are set to officially launch their inaugural Glitter Festival event. This will hopefully be the start of an annual event celebrating the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, A-sexual, Panesexual+ community. Although the event may be celebrating these communities, all supporters regardless of personal orientation are more than welcome to attend and take advantage of a sizable compilation of events – ranging from performances and screenings to a number of free and out-of-theatre events. The full itinerary for the week-long event can be found via The Arts Centre Gold Coast official website.

One ambition of the Glitter Festival is to provide the LGBTIQAP+ community and all other guests a platform for social interaction in a fun and safe environment. Therefore, a number of free activities and events are being held, aspiring to “allow people to connect, share, laugh and engage with one another”. Information on some of these events can be found below:

Meet, Mix and Mingle at The Aviary
30th September – 3rd October

The Arts Centre Terrace is being transformed into ‘The Aviary’. Every evening from 5PM until late, there will be live music and entertainment at the venue – providing an opportunity to grab something to eat between shows or simply relax to some music with friends. Entry to these events are free.

Fair Day
4th October

A minute or two’s walk away from The Arts Centre Gold Coast’s main venue is Evandale Lake, which will play host to a number of events during Glitter Festival 2015 including the Fair Day. Everyone is invited to bring their picnic basket and enjoy a day full of outdoor activities, over 60 market stalls, food and beverage outlets, community stalls, a youth zone for those 15-25 years old and much more. The day will be concluded with another inaugural event for The Arts Centre Gold Coast – ‘Pop Up Pictures‘ – with a screening of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Entry to this event and the film screening is completely free.

There’s Something I Need to Tell You
30th September – 1st October at 6:30pm and 8:00pm (Two 1.5 hour sessions)

Share your secrets, dreams, triumphs and stories inside the walls of The Parlour. Soak up the stunning panoramic views of the Surfers Paradise skyline, unwind and be inspired by great stories from our community and special guests. Hosted nightly by local entertainers, enjoy wine tastings, networking and the odd sing-a-long or two!

According to The Arts Centre Gold Coast, it is “Something fun, meaningful and unique to add to your Glitter bucket list“. For more specifics with regards to this event, click HERE.
