Despite the heavy localisation demands for each instalment in Sega’s long-running Yakuza series (Also known as Ryu Ga Gotoku in Japan), their international divisions have dedicated the resources to publishing every non-spin-off title in English in some shape or form since the very first game in 2006. Except for one title, all numbered instalments have been made available on a physical disc. That one exception is Yakuza 5, which was originally released on the PlayStation 3 as a digital exclusive three years after its Japanese launch. This was during a time where it was unclear if Sega would continue their localisation efforts on the series. Fortunately, with that sorted out, there has been no further uncertainty around the ever-growing narrative-driven franchise.
The long-time digital exclusivity of Yakuza 5 changes today with the release of Yakuza 5 Remastered on the PlayStation 4. Following the availability of Yakuza 0, Yakuza 6 and remastered versions of the first two games on the PlayStation 4, SEGA six months ago confirmed the Yakuza Remastered Collection, encompassing the third, fourth and fifth titles in the series. As of today, Yakuza 0-6 are now all available on one platform. Those who own the digitally downloadable Remastered Collection can boot up their console and download Yakuza 5 Remastered today.
While The Yakuza Remastered Collection has been available as a digital download on the PlayStation Store for some time, SEGA will be offering a limited, physical “Day One Edition” of the entire collection. The collection includes the three games across two Blu-ray discs, a 2-disc Digipack and (for those who have Yakuza 3 and Yakuza 4’s PS3 game cases) an original PlayStation 3 Amaray Case for Yakuza 5. Supplies are described as being “very limited” for this collection, so if interested, be sure to nab a copy while you can.

About The Yakuza Remastered Collection
The Yakuza Remastered Collection encompasses the three games in the main series first released on the PlayStation 3 – Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4 and Yakuza 5. Each title, released incrementally over the last six months, have received graphical and performance upgrades (1080p at 60fps) in addition to improved localisation efforts. More importantly for those looking for a genuine experience, content cut from all three games have been included. This includes the cabaret, massage parlour, shogi and mahjong mini-games in Yakuza 3, and previously omitted substories across all three.
