Yen Press Announce Many New Manga Acquisitions at New York Comic Con 2015

-

Recently in attendance at the annual New York Comic Con, North American manga publisher Yen Press announced a sizable haul of new acquisitions which will be localised and published by the company in the future. Overall there were ten manga/novel series acquired, including the manga adaptations of both Corpse Party and Space Dandy, and the manga/novel adaptations of Mamoru Hosoda’s latest animated feature ‘The Boy and the Beast’.

No release date for any of these titles are known, but I would expect to see them begin rolling out onto store shelves sometime in 2016.

Information on each title, including an official blurb, can be found below:

Scumbag Loser | Mikoto Yamaguchi

In this spine-chilling horror thriller, a high school dweeb makes up a sexy girlfriend to avoid becoming the biggest loser in the class. But the last thing he expects is for her to actually turn up as a transfer student…

Corpse Party: Blood Covered | Makoto Kendouin / Toshimi Shinomiya

When a mysterious earthquake rocks the grounds of Kisaragi Academy, its students soon find themselves in an alternate reality of murder and blood covered mayhem!

Space Dandy | Masafumi Harada / Sung-Woo Park / RED ICE

Join Dandy—space adventurer extraordinaire—as he travels the galaxies with his faithful companions in search of new alien species!

Dimension W | Yuji Iwahara

The energy crisis may have been solved in 2072, but it doesn’t mean everyone’s happy about it, as a new stripe of criminal causes mayhem in this progressive SF tale from the pen of Yuji Iwahara (Cat Paradise, King of Thorn, Darker Than Black)!

Unhappy Go Lucky | Cotoji

Tennogofune Academy’s class 1-7 sure is unlucky. But brighter fortunes may be on the way when Hibari, Hanako, and Botan decide to make the most out of their everyday school lives!

Psycome (Novel) | Mizuki Mizushiro / Namanie

Accused of a crime he didn’t commit, Kyosuke Kamiya is sent to Purgatorium Rehabilitation Academy, where he suddenly finds himself surrounded by a variety of fetching lasses. It’s just too bad every one of them is a murderer!

Overlord (Novel / Manga) | Kugane Maruyama / So-Bin / Fugin Miyama (Manga)

The once popular game Yggdrasil was supposed to shut down, but the players who stayed online past the moment the servers went quiet found themselves transported to a game world made real!

The Boy and the Beast (Novel & Manga) | Mamoru Hosoda / Renji Asai (Manga)

Worlds collide when a boy from Tokyo meets a beast from the monster realm to form a lasting friendship—the novelization of the critically acclaimed film, The Boy and the Beast, from the director of Wolf Children.
