The Anime Figures of Chino Kafuu from GochiUsa

Even collecting a small number of anime or video game figures can be a very pricey hobby, especially in the past five or so years where prices seem to have doubled or tripled for figures of the same quality. But with supply so limited and some pre-ordering out months in advance, sometimes it comes down to whether you want to take a risk and purchase the figure before the final product is available, or wait to see if it is good or not, and potentially experience inflated aftermarket prices. Over the coming months, I am doing photoshoots of every figure I own, both reviewed and not-reviewed previously on The Otaku’s Study. For those who fall in the latter category, this photography-centric series – Figure Options – will give you an indication of what you can expect.

Koi’s multimedia franchise Gochuumon wa Usagi desu ka? (ご注文はうさぎですか?), also known as Is the Order a Rabbit? and GochiUsa, is to me one of the most enjoyable slice-of-life series released in quite some time. Having enjoyed success with the original ongoing manga, three anime seasons, feature-length OVAs, video games, and a whole swath of other products – it should not be a surprise that many figure releases would follow. While all main characters in the series have received figure releases, the character that has received the lion’s share of them is Chino Kafuu (香風智乃), the taciturn yet adorable middle-schooler who is the granddaughter of the Rabbit House’s founder and the one subject to the big-sister affections of other series lead Cocoa Hoto.

These photographs were used as tests for my new figure photography set-up, so please excuse the varying numbers of photos / evolving style. However, I hope these assist in you choosing which figures you might wish to acquire, either pre-owned or one of the diminishing numbers of new-in-box versions floating around. Please note there are so many options for Chino Kafuu, that if none of these catches your attention but you like the character, you are bound to find many other options that suit your preferences.
