My Hopes for the year!

2008 unfortunately hasn’t been a great year of anime etc for me. With me forced to drop many things out of sheer boredom, hasn’t been so bad this season, althrough I have only managed to just watch the episodes, but not review them. (Except To Aru Majutsu no Index… dunno where that went).

Therefore, to keep my interests up for next year, I am comprising a list of things, alongside comments which I hope will allow me to keep my interests for the next year.

My Hopes for the year! 1
1. More Rozen Maiden Episodes

Personally, I do not mind Shugo Chara, it isn’t the best anime I have watched, however, it isn’t the worst one I have watched. However, I have noticed myself going back over the older episodes again and again and now I wish that they released another anime series to continue where it left off as honestly, how can you leave a series at a point such as where it is at! I hope the latest Rozen Maiden manga series has sparked production of a new series. (As long as it does not follow the new Negima OVA’s where they continue from a random point in the manga)

More Anime Choices in General

Another thing I found was that the variety in anime was lacking this year in comparison to last year. Last year, there was a variety of different shows that captivated my attention, Higurashi no Naku koro ni (Kai), Negima!?, Manabi Straight just to name a small few and I found that the variety was less this year. Of course, it could just be my personal opinion on the matter, but I would like a few more comedies or ever shows like Higurashi and Elfen Lied which I find interesting.

Also, I would like to see a fair few more manga adaptations, such as I wouldnt mind seeing an anime adaptation of World Embryo or Kon Kon Kokon. Of course, these are my own opinions and I guess everything is set to appeal to different people.

3. More Anime from other sources

This is a hope which is done every year, but I would like to see it continue on throughout the years. I find that a lot of animes are adapted from manga, which is all well and good, however I would like to see more adaptations from things such as Visual Novels and Artbooks.

Visual novels are usually hentai based of course, however, a select few do posess a storyline which seem to hold good aspects to be adapted into an anime. This proved very successful in the choice of visual novels such as Higurashi no Naku koro ni which gained a much greater aclaim after being changed. Of course, even adult based ones have been successful such as Yotsunoha, which had a storyline that was successful in being made into an anime. Of course, I don’t actually read the adult visual novels, however reading about them to spark interest in their storyline (Althrough being the person I am, just wishes they were adapted into animes or other genres)

Artbooks are also another interesting idea. Whilst they usually rely on a completely new storyline, they can offer a rather interesting watch, and if nothing else, excellent graphics. For example, Moetan whilst being an average anime, the graphic design was some of the best I have ever seen.

4. More Live Adaptations

I can imagine live adaptations are rather hard to pull off, however, there are some cases where it turns out rather good. A good example is the Negima Live Action series from this year. I shall admit, it wasn’t as good as it could have been, it took a pre-existing genre and then completely went off the road, adding little bits of the series here and there. This turned out a rather good adaptation and even if there were to be one or two interesting live action series next year, I would be rather happy.

On another note, I cannot wait to get a look at the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Live Action Movie!

5. More Stuff Released in Australia

I shall keep saying it over and over again, we need more anime/manga/etc stuff released in Australia! End of story.

6. Emil Chronicle Online to be released in English

I am aware that this is not an anime series, however sometime next year I would like IAH Games to release Emil Chronicle Online, which is currently only available in a few limited countries at the moment. Always good to have hope! Shall become the third game in my gaming set!

Well, that is it for now, I have a few more things that I want to mention but I shall do that at a later stage! These are of course, my own opinions, and of course different things appeal to different people, so if you had a good year in regards to this stuff, then my congratulations to you! If not, maybe next year!
