CD PROJEKT RED used its Anime Expo 2025 panel in Los Angeles to confirm that studio TRIGGER is back on board for a brand-new standalone anime, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, which will stream on Netflix at a later date.

The reveal included key art, an updated series logo and the news that Kai Ikarashi (Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, SSSS.Gridman) will make his directorial debut, succeeding original director Hiroyuki Imaishi. Ikarashi greeted fans with a pre-recorded video and a “Director’s Voice” featurette that outlined his vision for the sequel.

Sztybor will continue as showrunner and head writer, with Kanno Ichigo (Promare, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners) returning as lead character designer. Masahiko Otsuka (Gurren Lagann, Promare) is handling screenplay adaptation duties.

Panel host Joey “The Anime Man” Bizinger was joined on stage by writer–producer Bartosz Sztybor, director Hiroyuki Imaishi, and English-language cast members Emi Lo (Lucy Kushinada) and Zach Aguilar (David Martinez). After reflecting on the first season’s impact and production, Sztybor confirmed the new partnership:

David’s story might be over, but there’s plenty more to discover in Night City. And to again have the legendary animation studio TRIGGER along for the ride makes us at CD PROJEKT RED so excited to introduce a raw, real chronicle of redemption and revenge, something unlike what we’ve done before

More information about this new anime project is expected to be shared in the coming months.
