Tougen Anki is pitched as a next-generation dark hero story, taking inspiration from the legend of Momotaro and focusing on a long-standing conflict between those descended from Oni and those from the Momotaro bloodline.

The event featured voice actors Kazuki Ura (Shiki Ichinose), Koutaro Nishiyama (Jin Kougasaki), Kaito Miura (Rokuro Kiriyama), and Aimi (Kuina Sazanami), who discussed their roles and experiences working on the anime. The event also confirmed the casting of Ryohei Kimura as Kyoya Oiranzaka, the head of the Kyoto branch’s support unit in the Oni Agency.

Several updates were announced during the panel, including the release of a second official trailer. The trailer introduces Shiki Ichinose’s experiences at Rasetsu Academy, a school for training Oni, and features the opening theme song Overnight by THE ORAL CIGARETTES. Takuya Yamanaka of THE ORAL CIGARETTES shared his thoughts on the opening theme debuted in the trailer, and its connection to the series’ themes:

I’m very honored to be performing the opening theme for TOUGEN ANKI! In this song, I tried to capture the spirit of the protagonist, who continues to uphold justice even when he’s far from his ideal self. I believe his circumstances are something many people can relate to in everyday life. Rather than living in regret thinking, “I wish I could’ve been more like this…,” my hope is that this song will give someone the push they need. I’m also really looking forward to the anime myself, and I hope everyone will enjoy both the song and the show!

In addition to the trailer, a second key visual was released showing members of Rasetsu Academy traversing a dimly lit, red-glowing underground passage, led by their instructor Naito Mudano.

Tougen Anki will be available for streaming internationally, with platforms to be announced at a later date.

TOUGEN ANKI | Teaser Trailer | EN SUB | It's Anime

“You inherit the blood of an Oni (demon)…”

The bloodlines of “Oni” and “Momotaro” have been passed down among certain humans for generations. Long ago, the Oni, aware of their own ferocity, lived in seclusion. However, their peace was shattered by an invasion led by Momotaro. Over thousands of years, these two factions formed the “Momotaro Agency” and the “Oni Agency,” respectively, and have been locked in conflict ever since.

The protagonist, Shiki Ichinose, suddenly learns of his Oni lineage following an unexpected attack by Momotaro. This revelation sets Shiki on a path to discover the destiny that lies within his blood — a meeting with the Oni dwelling within him.

— A new generation of dark heroics begins here in this tale of demons!
