Only Yesterday (English Dub) Begins Limited Australian Cinema Run

Left thinking you might never have another opportunity to watch a Studio Ghibli film in cinemas? The initial western release of Only Yesterday was a bit different than all other Studio Ghibli animated feature films, as it never had an English dubbed commissioned for it. But a revisit to the film almost a decade and a half later after first screening in Japan has changed this. Therefore, Australian anime publisher Madman Entertainment have decided to give the 1991 film another chance to shine on the silver screen.

These screenings have begun today in select cinemas across Australia. Many locations will be screening the film this weekend only however, so be sure to check your local cinema schedule to see when you can catch this Studio Ghibli classic. You can find a full list of cinemas screening Only Yesterday HERE.

This screening will be available in high-definition, and will feature the English voice work of Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens) and Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire). You can see a sample of the English dub via the trailer above.

Only Yesterday was originally directed by Isao Takahata, who in later years also worked on Grave of the Fireflies, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, My Neighbors the Yamadas and Pom Poko.
