Sentai Filmworks Acquire Rights to Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation

-

While there has not been a commercial release of Phantasy Star Online 2 in North America to date, despite it being first released in Japan during 2012, those curious about the game will get a small taste of it when Sentai Filmworks begins simulcasting Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation next month. This anime adaptation of the MMORPG follows Itsuki Tachibana, a player of Phantasy Star Online 2, and the challenges he faces both inside and outside the game.

Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation is being directed by Keiichiro Kawaguchi, with both script and series composition being handled by Mitsutaka Hirota. Character designs are being provided by Minoko Takasu, while the animation is being produced by TELECOM ANIMATION FILM.

Phantasy Star Online 2: The Animation will first be available through select video-on-demand services starting January 2016. A home video release is planned to follow at a later date (although I wouldn’t be expecting one until at least 2017).
