For their first anime acquisition announcement recently, North American anime publisher Sentai Filmworks have confirmed they now hold the rights to Utawarerumono (OVA). This announcement closely follows their acquisition of Utawarerumono The False Faces back in October. The original TV anime of Utawarerumono is currently being retailed by FUNimation Entertainment as part of a S.A.V.E. DVD Edition.
This is a comedic fantasy anime which consists of a group of side-stories based in the Utawarerumono universe. Many characters from the series are set to appear, as they run into more adventures and mischief.
Utawarerumono (OVA) has been directed by Kenichiro Katsura, with scripting done by Takamitsu Kouno, original character designs by Tatsuki Amazuyu, sound direction by Takatoshi Hamano and animation production by both AQUAPLUS and Chaos Project.
Utawarerumono (OVA) is currently available through select video-on-demand services in North America, and will be followed by a home video release at some point in the future.
