Building upon their Fall 2015 anime schedule, North American anime publisher have announced they now hold the rights to ‘Young Black Jack’, which is set to begin airing in Japan this month. Based on the manga written by Yoshiaki Tabata and illustrated by Yūgo Ōkuma, this anime further explores Osamu Tezuka’s character ‘Black Jack’ during his years as a medical student. The goal is to explore the formative years of the mysterious and iconic character as he strives to become a master surgeon.

Young Black Jack is set to begin streaming through select video-on-demand services in North America soon, with a home video release planned to follow at a later date.

Young Black Jack is being directed by Atsuko Kase, with series composition by Ryosuke Takahashi and series scripting by Yoshiaki Tabata. Other creative team members include Tezuka Productions who will be animating the series and Daisuke Ikeda who will serve as composer.
