AnimeLab) or purchasing a more expensive home video release? Madman Entertainment have confirmed that episodes of K-ON! will begin airing on Australia’s ABC3 channel starting next Friday night (Friday 19 June) at 9PM. There is unfortunately no word on when similar televised screenings will be available in New Zealand.

K-ON! (Season 1) is currently available from Madman Entertainment as either four individual DVD or Blu-ray volumes priced at $9.95 each (Replicating the distribution style of original North American publisher Bandai Entertainment) or as a complete series on DVD or Blu-ray at $59.95/$64.95. For a limited time, the complete series DVD and Blu-ray can be purchased for just $29.95 as part of Madman’s Anime Starter Sale.

Official Synopsis for K-ON!

When Yui Hirasawa enters high school, she wants to join a club but can’t decide which one is right for her. Fortunately, the Light Music Club is desperate to find another member or else they’ll be disbanded! With the enticement of delicious snacks and assurances that no musical experience is necessary, Yui joins up, becoming the guitarist in this all-girl high school rock band. Together with Mio Akiyama on bass, Tsumugi Kotobuki on keyboard, and Ritsu Tainaka on drums, they’re going to rock the school and someday make it to the Budokan! Now, if only they can just put down the snacks long enough to practice…
