It has been some time since Australian anime publisher Siren Visual announced a set of new acquisitions, and apparently they have a couple of classic anime series to announce this week. First on their announcement slate is the Australian debut of Hideaki Anno’s pre-Evangelion steam-punk work Nadia: Secret of Blue Water.

This will be released as a complete series edition (Minus the movie) over 8 DVD’s from January 2015. The company has yet to rule out a Blu-ray release, but are still not sure if it will be possible.

It’s the end of the 19th century and a nerdy yet courageous young inventor crosses paths with an enigmatic young girl who carries with her an ancient jewel. Cue a slapstick villainous trio and a madman hell-bent on stealing the jewel and unraveling the mysteries of the Blue Water, restoring the Atlantean Empire and leading the world into the new century. Based on Jules Verne’s ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’, scored by Shiro Sagisu (who also worked on Neon Genesis Evangelion) and with eye-popping animation from the legendary GAINAX studios; we are very pleased to present this 90’s classic for the first time in Australia!
